Farmers of border areas suffer for want of fertilizer: Sharma | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 31: The short supply of fertilizers in Buddhal, Rajouri, Kalakote, Poonch and Mendhar areas were discussed threadbear at a meeting of All J&K Kissan Union held at press club here today. Which was chaired by its chairman and ex. legislature Ashok Sharma. He on the occasion asked the government to take note of the slackness of the supply system in the area, as it is the appropriate season and farmers of border areas are suffering for want of fertilizers. He further said that Kissan Union shall work as watch dog to see proper implementation of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna, Nabard schemes and other schemes ment for farmers. In the meeting members were of the opinion that the farmer community should be motivated to adopt sustainable agricultural practices which should not be exclusively profit oriented but also take care of the health of the consumers and encouraged to go for organic farming, growing of medicinal and aromatic plants, water harvesting and conservation, environmental issues etc. The need for improvement of Animal Production Industry in the state was also felt and members were keen that the change could be brought about by introducing innovations and exposing farmers to the advancements in rest of the country through organizing expositions and conferences in the state.
