Sham inspects pace of work in Akhnoor

JAMMU, July 31:Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma today conducted extensive tour of Akhnoor, his home constituency, and inspected pace of work on various developmental projects.
Minister also announced Rs 10 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for Government Higher Secondary School Sohal for construction of additional class rooms and laboratory and other infrastructure.
During his tour, Minister inspected work on upcoming Primary Health Centre building at Mishriwala, being constructed at a cost of Rs 1.71 crore.
The proposed health centre would have all basic diagnostic facilities, including X-ray, ECG and other facilities.
Minister assured that adequate medical staff would be posted at the centre which has a large catchment area. He asked the executing agencies to use quality material and complete the building in stipulated time frame.
Minister also inspected pace of work on Sohal Primary Health Centre to be completed at a cost of Rs 1.74 crore. The Minister went around the building and checked the material being used in the construction. He directed the concerned authorities to keep a close watch on the use of material in the building.
Sham said that the government is for creating quality infrastructure to strengthen the health care services in the state. He also said that various measures have been taken to improve the service delivery on ground by putting in place an effective monitoring mechanism.
Later, the minister went round the Government HSS Sohal and inspected the facilities available in the institution. On the demand of the locals , the minister issued on the spot orders of starting work for the construction of additional class rooms and other infrastructure in the school. For the purpose, the Minister sanctioned Rs 10 lakh, out of his Constituency Development Fund. He also assured that the vacant posts of teaching staff have already been filled and assured that two more lecturers would be appointed to fill the left out vacant posts. At Bhalwal, the Minister inspected the work on Public Park being developed in the area. The Minister said that adequate funds will be provided to complete the park which is going to be a major attraction in the area. He asked the executing agencies to expedite the work and complete the same within the stipulated time frame. He also assured that a community hall will be constructed in the area.
Among others Director Health Dr Jasbir Singh, Chief Medical Office, Jammu, SDM Akhnoor, CEO Jammu, ZEO Akhnoor and other senior officers of the concerned department also accompanied the Minister.
