Deputation of Chopan Welfare Association meets Guv | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Aug 3:A deputation of the J&K Chopan Welfare Association called on the Governor, N N Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here today and submitted to him a memorandum of their demands. The demands projected by the deputation led by General Secretary of the Association, Abdul Majid Chopan, include the grant of Scheduled Tribe status to the Chopan community, setting up of mobile schools and healthcare facilities in the highland pastures to facilitate education of their children as well as catering to their medical requirements. Other demands highlighted in the Memorandum included provision of educational scholarships to the children of the Chopan community and scientific management of the highland pastures which are fast withering away. Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured that their demands would be taken up with the State Government. Principal Secretary to the Governor, R K Goyal, was present on the occasion. The deputation comprised Kashmir Provincial President of the Association, Habibullah Chopan and Bandipora District President, Mr. Mohammad Afzal Chopan.
