Another departure drama on “Restaurant Theater” coming up | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SIDDHARTH Jammu, August 3: In the efforts being envisaged by Odeon Odyssey, the theatrical group trying exciting means to find a new drama idiom in Jammu and Kashmir; it is coming up with another restaurant show this weekend. Earlier having registered its pioneer ship as the ace exponent in this novel field of dramaturgy by performing a live show in a running restaurant and that too an English production, the group now is venturing into a Hindi rendition termed “Uljhan”, but a translation done of the most renowned one act play of Floyd Dell’s ‘Enigma’. This time also, as per the version of Vikram Sharma, the force behind this novel dramaturgy, the actors are likely to emerge from the customers having their Sunday Buffet at Chanakya restaurant and are going to debate on a serious subject of man-woman relation- an issue likely to find relevance till the existence of Human Beings. The super human heroes of the contemporary settings in the art world, Himanshu and Neha, both best actor and best actress of the year announced by Jammu and Kashmir academy of art, culture and languages would lock horns for the serious subject that is likely to arrest customer-turned-audience imaginations on the given day for an experience of lifetime that they seldom have experienced earlier. Shiv Kumar, the proprietor of the Chankya Restaurant at Green Belt Parks Gandhinagar expressed his keen desire to be part of such activity in the restaurant so that people wanting to feel for a difference may find his restaurant a valuable meadow for a day out. “Since Vikram has initiated such activity through theatre, the restaurant has come alive with small queries about the performance being done in Chanakya which is a healthy sign. This has given me and my restaurant team to try new and sizzling menus for the customers for the day so that they can enjoy the best of the menus over the live show,” said an apparently looking excited Shiv Kumar. The customers Abhishkek Magotra and Raveesh Mengi, both of whom were the first audience of the maiden venture ‘The Conflict’ in English performed at Chankaya earlier were very upbeat for the upcoming ‘Uljhan’ and shared a tête-à-tête with this correspondent. “Since we both are frequent visitors to many of the theatrical activities in Jammu, but Vikram’s sense of producing a departure drama is unique and different from all others. His experimentation with the theater is generically based to inculcate a common man’s interest into it as his new dramaturgy of Restaurant Theater is a raging manifestation which is extremely entertaining,” said both Abhishek and Raveesh. Though Vikram and both of the lead pair of Himanshu and Neha were not available for comment on the upcoming show, the director of ‘Uljhan’ and ‘The Conflict”, Mr Vikas Sharma spoke about this play craft being purely his own concept manifestation that was very diligently supported by Vikram’s Odeon Odyssey to make it wonderful presentation. “I would be coming up with more productions with this team in near future also,” said Vikas sharma. The premiere of ‘Uljhan’ entitled as “the buffet & the drama” is scheduled for Sunday, August 8 at Chanakya restaurant at 1.00 pm, the enquiries for which can be had from Chanakya reception.
