| Intel reiterates commitment to ‘World Ahead Prog’ | | | Bangalore, October 24, 2006: Intel India reiterated its commitment to enhance lives through the ‘World Ahead Program’ announced earlier this year. The program has led multiple initiatives in the space of Accessibility, Connectivity and Education which have gained momentum since its launch. Under this program, Intel has increased the number of teachers trained under the Intel Teach program to over 600,000, reaching out to over 31000 schools nationally. Intel has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maharashtra State Co-operative Societies Federation [MAFCOCS] and will reach out to 30 million account holders through MAFCOCS 80,000 credit societies nationally.
Paul Otellini, President and Chief Executive Officer of Intel Corporation during his visit to India on May 23 2006, launched Intel’s World Ahead Program in India, supported by a global investment of US$1 billion (across emerging countries). The World Ahead Program has the charter to drive digital inclusion in emerging countries, focusing progress in accessibility, connectivityand education Re-iterating its commitment to the World Ahead Program, Intel India has led multiple initiatives and introduced a number of new programs over the past few months in these focus areas. |
