| Terrorist pretending to be perfume seller | | >>He sells his products in Pakistan | |
B L KAK NEW DELHI, JULY 26: A sensational intelligence report: Adopting "secrecy-for-the-sake-of-secrecy" gameplan, Pakistan has provided sanctuary to yet another India's most wanted terrorist, Abdul Karim Tunda. Tunda is not in the United States. Equally sensational is the growing suspicion among several Indians: Abdul Karim Tunda could be one of the key players behind the bomb blasts on Mumbai trains on July 11. For almost one week now a good deal of confusion prevailed over his whereabouts. First, it was reported that he had been arrested in Kenya. Within less than 24 hours, however, a new event took place with the denial of his reported arrest in Kenya. Then came the reports about Tunda's presence in a US jail. A senior intelligence official (his identity not disclosed) was reported on Wednesday to have said: "We have specific information that Tunda was among the planners of the Mumbai blasts". These blasts killed nearly 200 people and injured hundreds of innocents. 63-year-old Abdul Karim Tunda. according to intelligence inputs available with the government of India, is "hiding" in Pakistan. And in Pakistan, he is pretending to be a perfume seller. He got the nickname 'Tunda' after one of his hands blew up while making bombs. Tunda is a resident of India's western Uttar Pradesh. If the intelligence official's account were to be believed, Karim Tunda has been in Pakistan since fleeing from India in 1998. With this, reports of his arrest in Kenya automatically stand rubbished. More importantly, Kenyan authorites have since denied Tunda's arrest in Kenya. That Karim Tunda is not out of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) frame is explained by the "discovery" of his abode in Pakistan. It is in the vicnity of Murdike near Lahore. The LeT headquarters are located in Murdike. And Tunda's shop is said to be near the Murdike headquarters of the Lashkar. Tunda had been named in connection with over 40 terror bombings in India between 1996 and 1998. He reportedly fled to Pakistan through Bangladesh on an Indian passport secured from Lucknow. Since then he had got hold of another passport-- a Bangladeshi one. Tunda is described as an expert in making powerful bombs, which he used for targeting New Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. These blasts left 24 dead and over 400 injured. Tunda's name also surfaced after the March 1993 serial bombings that rocked Mumbai following the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in December 1992. On India's request, Interpol issued a red corner notice for Tunda after he fled the country. Yet another sensational piece of information: Living with Tunda in Pakistan are his two wives and two sons. The latter are now linked to the Lashkar-e-Toiba. Tunda has mastered the art of making bombs using urea. He was the first terorist to introduce urea, ammonia and nitrogen to carry out blasts. ==============
