| Azad visits Dargah, Eidgah, other parts of city on eve of Eid | | | Srinagar, October 24 – Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad today visited Dargah Hazarartbal. A large number of people assembled when they saw Chief Minister arriving there on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. He was accompanied by Union Minister for Water Resources Prof. Saif-ud-din Soz and a team of senior civil and police officers. The Chief Minister paid obeisance inside the Dargah and prayed for peace and prosperity of the people of the state. Later, the Chief Minister visited the surroundings of Dargah shrine and reviewed the arrangements made for offering of Eid prayers. He also reviewed the Dargah expansion plan which has been envisaged by him immediately after taking over as Chief Minister. He was informed that large chunk of houses have already been removed during last three months and steps are being taken to remove 81 more structures on both sides which are hampering the view of Dargah. The Chief Minister was informed that after removal of these structures the sacred shrine will emerge with its grandeur on the banks of Dal Lake with all sides open which shall be developed as green gardens where at a time 7 lakh people can offer prayers. Mr. Azad directed the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Executive Officer Wakf Board to speed up the work immediately. From Dargah, the Chief Minister along with Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz proceeded to interior areas of Shar-e-Khas. They also visited Eidgah . The Chief Minister directed the concerned executing agencies and Wakf Board to speed up the work for development of Eidgah which was centre place before 17 years for offering Eid prayers. He instructed that Eidgah should be developed as one of the ideal and beautiful Eidgahs of the country. He gave on the spot directions for immediately turfing the barren portion of Eidgah besides completion of all works on priority bases. The Chief Minster also visited interior areas and was informed that all supplies were available to the people on the eve of Eid. The Divisional Commissioner informed the Chief Minister that special squads are monitoring price control of all essential commodities required by the people on Eid. The people who met Mr. Azad at different places expressed their satisfaction accordingly.
