| Sexual violence with domestic servants. | | | Rajouri, 24 oct.
A teenager female domestic servant Manju Devi daughter of Puran Chand of village Kangri in border district Rajouri was working for the last four years in the house of one influential land lord and transporter of village Kangri some 85 kilometers toward south of district headquarter Rajouri .Finencial condition of the family forced Puran to send his only daughter as servant to earn livelihood .when she started working in the house of one retired army Captain Lal Shoor as domestic servant. For about two years she worked in the house of Cap. Shoor. Manju says during the day times she had to wash the clothes and kitchen ware of the land lord and during the night she had to satisfy sexually Cap. Shoor and his son Surinder singh.. For this double shift working Manju was given only two times meals and some second hand clothes only to cover her self during the day. “ I was not only used by duo father and son even some times I was also asked by the land lard to please his friends also. After about one year when I got pregnant , I was threatened not to disclose it .both father and son took me to a nursing home at Jammu and got me aborted there ”, said Manju adding that Lal Shoor acted as my father and Rattan Singh son –in law of Lal Shoor acted as my husband just to befool the gynogologist for abortion .she was not the only domestic servant being used by the land lords for their sexual lust she added .. She said her two more colleagues who have been working in the two separate house in Tehsil Sunderbani have shared similar stories with her.
However, after about one and half year later on 6-7-2006, when victim Manju’s father came to know about the sexual exploitation of his daughter by Cap. Sahib and his son Surinder singh , he immediately took his daughter to Police station Sunder bani and pleaded for the registeration of case against the accused. After two days, on 8- 7- 2006, Sunderbani police registered the FIR against all the accused named by the victim .” But for the past three months we have been moving from pillar to post to get the challan presented before the court of law but all in vain”, said Victim Manju alleging that concerned SHO was harassing her to go for compromise with Cap. Shoor and his son.
“ Now I appeal to chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to look in to the matter personally and get the matter investigated by the person not less than the rank of SP as the accused being an influential and wealthy person can influence any one”, said the victim Manju.
This is not the isolated case of sexual violence with the domestic servants . An other victim of land lords is one 15 year old Tahira Kouser daughter of Mohd Shabir of village Kotli kala ban under the jurisdiction of police station Manjakote. A case in this connection is also registered with police station Manjakote. In the meanwhile Manju and her Grand mother along with more than 60 villager of Kangri approached SSP Rajouri seeking justice for the orphan Manju .
