| E&T employees protest continues on days 8 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | JULY 26 All J&K Excise and commercial Tax government employees union has entered eighth day of its continuous protest/ demonstration, with government showing total insensitiveness, towards their problem. The employees are dead set to continue their struggle, and have garnered full support from many other quarters too. The employees, in their press release said that Dy. Chief Minister (Present) has allegedly said that these employees have been employees y National Conference government and therefore the govt. had no place for them, during their meeting with him on 18-07-2006. Does this logic hold water? In a democratic set up government go on changing and every successive government is bound to keep the commitment of the other governments. Why should poor people be victim of politician’s rivateries. If 40,000 employees were appointed during that time under government order number 1786 CA dated 11-11-1997, the order was a general one and there was nothing like backdoor appointments. Is the government going to make recruitments against all these posts? The leaders of the union along with the unions supporting them have demanded that his government refer this case to select committee the speaker of the legislative assembly. The said committee will look into all the appointments made after 1996. The union leaders appealed Hon’ble Chief Minister to show his personal interest and intervene in this matter. The rally is supported by medical employee’s union, Accounts and Treasuries union, Com. Saroop Singh (State President All J&K Class IV employees union) and also by political and non- political leaders and general public also. The rally was addressed by Adil Rashid (President) Pradeep Ji (President medical employees union), Surinder Sharma (Vice-President) Nazir Ahmed Bhat(Gen Secy.) Ram (Cashier) Anjan Wazir (Chief Org.) Hamim Ahmed (Joint Secy.) Sanjay Kumar (Jt. Pub. Secy.) Narinder Dogra (Org.) Hafiz-ullah-Bhat, Mohd. Ishaq Malik, Sarabjeet Singh, Suresh Kumar, Mohd. Shafi and Riaz etc.
