Nitin emerges as new junior snooker champion | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 11: Beating equally good Dilawar Mir in the final, Jammu district champion, Nitin Sharma today emerged as new junior snooker champion in the 20th State Billiards and Snooker Championships concluded at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here. Making a flying start winning opening two frames, Dilawar could not build up on the initial advantage and lost the following three frames to lose the final 2-3. The score: 24-54, 28-54, 57-53, 52-37, 80-37. However, he expressed his satisfaction to reach the final of state championship that too practicing on rough tables of polls in Srinagar. On the other hand, Nitin was confident enough to win the title. Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla was chief guest in the valedictory function which was attended besides players by distinguished gathering. He gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Speaking to the players, Minister appreciated young cueists from valley, who took part in the competition despite unrest in Kashmir and excelled in the state championship. Earlier, the Minister was welcomed by president of J&K Billiards and Snooker Association, Siddharth Sharma, who also presented a brief note of the activities.
