Panthers demand re-organisation of State in PM meet
8/11/2010 10:34:37 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU,Aug 11: A delegation of the JKNPP comprising Prof Bhim Singh and Harsh Dev Singh attended All Party Meeting convened by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister submitted a detailed memorandum enlisting the measures required to be taken to deal with the extremely volatile situation prevailing in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Bhim Singh vociferously argued in favour of imposition of Governor’s rule in the State in view of total collapse of politico-constitutional apparatus of the state. He argued that the present Chief Minister had failed in crisis management with his credibility being at the lowest ebb. Having lost acceptability amongst the masses, the Chief Minister had lost his moral authority to continue in office, alleged Singh.
Ruling out the demand for further autonomy or self rule, he said that reorganisation of the state was the only resolution of the present crisis to ensure equity and justice to all the three regions of the state.
Prof Bhim Singh further made out a strong case for equitable treatment to all regions of the state and holding of Delimitation in the state at the earliest. He lambasted the ruling NC for its controversial Resettlement Act which he dubbed as anti-national.
Harsh Dev Singh in his charter of demands handed over to the Prime Minister sought a financial package for the tourism promotion in Jammu region and adequate funding for Mansar, Dalsar, Surinsar Lakes on the analogy of Kashmir lakes
Harsh Dev Singh submitted a detailed note to the Prime Minister regarding the biased treatment doled out to Jammu region by successive rulers. He sought issuance of Dogra Certificate to the Dogra youth which could ensure them priority treatment in Armed Forces for the purposes of employment. He urged for simultaneous functioning of Secretariats in both the regions of the State in the interest of people of both the regions of the state. Singh further demanded in his memorandum the announcement of an employment package for the state.
The Panthers leaders further castigated the BJP for its double standards in the meeting for its undue and un-natural support to NC Govt. They said the BJP stood unmasked before the Prime Minister in the All Party Meet for opposing NPP’s demand for imposition of Governor Rule.
