Kathua 11 Aug:The residents of Kathua are facing power crisis to negligence of electricity department as the corruption menace is increasing in the PDD day by day.
Illegal power connections further add to the problems of people and also illegal air conditions connections show the height of corruption in the department.
According to the reliable sources some people after greasing the palms of meter reader and other employees with 2000, are openly installing air conditioners without allotting connections to them. If we talk about the procedure of installation of ac one is require to take connection by providing lump sum amount of 6000. There are industries and other institutions that are using dozens of AC’s in their institutions. They all are enjoying coolest air absolutely free by the department’s grace.
When contacted to higher authorities in this regard they simply said as such there is no complaint regarding this. Now question arises that why kathua is suffering badly with insufficient power supplied by the department. Now a day’s people have to suffer lot of power cuts for hours but authorities have no answer. Local residents of kathua town alleged that department is fully involved with the employees who are in direct link with higher officials. Some of the employees are working in kathua town from so many years but not got transfer from this place to another. This is increasing the menace corruption in district. People demanded the transfer of such employees and also to intervene in the matter of illegal AC’s installation. When contacted Executive engineer over phone he was not available for the comments.
