Be law abiding citizens: DIG to youth

UDHAMPUR, Aug 10:To involve the young students in making society crime free and utilizing their enormous energies in the constructive works for the healthy society, the Government Post Graduation College (Boys), Udhampur organized an interactive session for the students, here on Wednesday.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Mr. Gulzar Singh Slathia, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Mr. Surinder Gupta, deliberated upon various subjects including role of police in the society. Police - Public relationship and counseling the students on being responsible citizens.

Speaking on the occasion the DIG said that police has acquired a new face now. He further said that these programmes are a part of community policing as now we have a people friendly police force. The young students should approach our friendly men in khaki for proper counseling and guidance, he added.

Mr. Slathia said that community policing is an integral part of the present day society and a key to protect the crimes. He said majority of the crimes happen due to lack of knowledge adding that such types of interactions with police and youth help in building the confidence and mutual trust. He called upon the young students to be law abiding citizens of the country and put in their sincere and dedicated effort for achieving the highest goal in their lives.

While interacting with the students, SSP said that the endeavors of the police department would continue to generate environmental awareness involving the young generation and people should not hesitate in approaching the police incase of any difficulty or distress. He said that his department is always ready to organize awareness programs for the students so that they grow as enlightened citizens.

In his welcome address Principal of the College, Dr. N.K. Resutra gave detailed account of the development plan of the College and plantation drive as well. He said that the youth needs to be motivated to actively participate in such activities.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof Kusum Gupta while Prof Sudhir Singh conducted the proceedings.

Earlier, a massive plantation drive was launched in the premises of the College by Udhampur Police and Civil Defense organization. The drive began by planting saplings in the camps by the DIG, SSP and Principal of the College. Dy.SP, Mr. Bodh Raj Coordinated and remained instrumental in executing plantation drive.
