PM made no mention of autonomy: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 11: Rejecting the reports of autonomy remarks of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in All Party Meet, State BJP on Wednesday said “No words from Prime Minister came on autonomy in All Party Meet”. Talking to media persons here today, Leader of BJP Legislature Party Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said, “We don’t know who gave the statement in media about Prime Minister’s remark on Autonomy but there is no consensus and discussion on autonomy and even no one raised the issue in All Party Meet except Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah”. ‘Dr Farooq raised the autonomy issue and asked it’s the solution to the present turmoil’, he said, adding, “Even Farooq has said in the meet that if any one have other amicable solution, he will take back autonomy proposal”. Prof Gupta suspected dual talk on Kashmir problem and autonomy and said autonomy for the state was not the option. He said that BJP has categorically made its stand clear on present turmoil and opposed J&K a political problem, opposed dilution in AFSPA, rehabilitation of stone pelters. Noting that a ‘political solution’ is the key to the problem in Kashmir, he, however, made it clear that nothing will be done outside the framework of the Constitution. Prof Gupta said, Prime Minister during All Party Meet said ‘we all product of constitution and we will never lower down’. He added that Prime Minister also said that security forces and J&K Police did great job in Jammu and Kashmir in maintaining law and order and they will be demoralized in the state. Holding State and Centre responsible for present mess in Kashmir, Prof Gupta said, ‘Since Centre and State is responsible for turmoil in Kashmir, it responsible of PM Dr Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to find amicable to this problem’. He alleged that in J&K there is no Government, presently Jammu and Kashmir is Government and people at this point of time want good governance which is imperative for peace in region. Welcoming the setting up of a committee under Justice C Rangarajan which will look into the ways to generate more jobs in the state and create situation for people’s participation in the politics of the state, he said, “If unemployment to be discussed it discussed and eradicate as a whole in Jammu and Kashmir not in Kashmir Valley. BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas was also present in the press conference.
