| Time to take cognizance of controversial NDTV, Barkha, Amitabh, Siddiq | | | RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 11: Don't mark time. To mark time would be to lose Kashmir and enable communal forces in Kashmir to establish in the state "Nizam-e-Mustafa." To mark more time would also be to provoke explosions and widespread protests in the otherwise peaceful regions of Jammu and Ladakh, where the concerned and ignored people are watching with vigilance all the developments as they have been unfolding in the terrorist and separatist-infested Kashmir and New Delhi. The alienated people of Jammu and Ladakh are fed up not only with the kind of politics the Kashmiri leaders have been playing, as also with the Valley-centric policies being pursued by New Delhi, but also with a section of the media that has unleashed a relentless anti-India and pro-independence campaign. The people are fed up with this brand of perverted and pro-Kashmiri separatist media for the simple reason that it is organizing debates on Kashmir in such a manner that paints India black, tarnishes the image of the Indian nation in the eyes of the international community and promotes the cause of Kashmiri separatists who have been carrying on a hate-India campaign for quite sometime now. It is not just the nature of the campaign which has been shocking and alarming the people of Jammu and Ladakh. It is the deliberate move of the organizers of these anti-India debates to rigorously exclude the other authentic and representative voices from these two regions and select panelists who are out-and-out rabidly anti-India and out-and-out pro-separatists and communalists so that the Indian nation and international community could be easily misled. Take, for example, the debate the NDTV 24X7 held on Tuesday night in the wake of the all-party meeting held by the Prime Minister at his official resident, 7-Race Course, to review the situation in Kashmir. Well-known pro-separatist and pro-fundamentalist Burkha Dutt anchored the programme -- Barkha Dutt whom former Deputy Chief Minister and PDP leader Muzzaffar Hussain Beig hailed only the other day for her contribution to the Kashmiri cause. She asked motivated and loaded questions to the panelists -- all separatists and their supporters and mercenaries like former Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University Amitabh Mattoo and Siddiq Wahid - in order to give a particular twist to the debate so that she and the highly biased and controversial panelists could corner, browbeat, motivate and blackmail the authorities in New Delhi; so that they could motivate with their pernicious and baneful influence the authorities to give what the Kashmiri separatists have been demanding since long. It would be only appropriate to mention here that Burkha Dutt and the fanatics and separatists like Mattoo and Wahid did all that they could to hit India below the belt and promote the cause of the Kashmiri separatists to the hilt. They poured venom on India; they attacked India; they accused India of violating the human rights in Kashmir; they painted things in lurid colours so as to inflame popular passions in Kashmir; they denounced the Indian Army and paramilitary forces; they defended the unruly mobs in Kashmir to the hilt; and they dismissed Jammu and Ladakh with contempt, saying discuss Kashmir and only Kashmir. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Barkha, Amitabh, Siddiq and others who took part in the ill-motivated and ill-designed and one-sided debate have now crossed all the lines and that time has come for the authorities in New Delhi to take cognizance of what the NDTV 24X7 and similar other channels and the likes of Barkha, Amitabh and Siddiq are doing to queer the Indian pitch in Jammu and Kashmir and take appropriate action against them. It's true that we are a democratic country and that we have the freedom to speech, but this freedom doesn't give anyone the license to support, join and promote hate-India campaign. Will the authorities act against them? |
