BJYM to hoist national flag at Lal Chowk
8/12/2010 10:07:18 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 12: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists will hoist national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar city on Independence Day. This was declared here today by BJYM State President Munish Sharma while addressing media persons at party headquarters.
Munish Sharma said that over 100 activists of BJYM will assemble on August 14 at party headquarters and leave for historical Lal Chowk with water of holy Suryaputri river Tavishi- popularly known as Tawi river.
On the morning of August 15, the activists on reaching Lal Chowk, will clean the area by spraying the water of Tavishi before hoisting the tricolor.
Sharma said during the last 20 years of militancy, about 20,000 security forces men have sacrificed their lives while performing their duties. It is due to the splendid services of the security forces that the people in the State, Kashmir valley in particular feel safe. Instead of recognizing their supreme sacrifices, the government under appeasement policy has been demoralizing them by considering the demands like dilution of AFSPA and constituting Commission of Inquiry against security forces.
BJYM State President said that we have always appreciated the role of security forces. We also stand for strengthening the nationalist forces in the state in order to defeat the nefarious designs of the anti-national forces. He said the “Lal Chowk Chalo” programme has been taken with a motive to boost the morale of the security forces and the nationalist people in the valley. He said every inch of Kashmir belongs to India and every nation loving citizen has right to hoist and honour the national flag any where on the national festivals like Republic Day and Independence Day.
Meanwhile, Sharma also condemned the recent incident outside Jammu University wherein anti-national elements raised anti-India slogans to disturb the peaceful atmosphere and communal harmony in Jammu. He said mere arresting a few of them is not enough. They should be booked under sedition activities and cases be decided in fast track courts. The forces behind them should also be identified and dealt under law of the land.
