| NZ Inter-Sainik School Games get underway | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 12: Host Sainik School Nagrota today made a winning start in basketball, hockey and volleyball in the North Zone Inter-Sainik School Sports Festival which got underway at Sainik School Nagrota grounds, near here today. In basketball, Sainik School Nagrota defeated Sainik School Kapurthala 42-27 to advance into the next round. Similarly, in hockey, Nagrota trounced Sainik School Kanjpura by five goals to one. In another team event of volleyball, Sainik School Nagrota overpowered Sainik School Kanjpura in a close contest 3-2 in best of five game. However, in football, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira trounced Sainik School Nagrota to make a winning start. In sub-junior football again Sainik School Nagrota lost to Sainik School Ghorakhal. Earlier, the Sports Festival was declared open by Principal of the host School, Group Captain, Ajay Kumar in a well attended inaugural function. Before he declared the meet open, Principal addressed the participating teams stressed for playing the games in true spirit of sportsmanship. Headmaster of the school, Lt Col. Krishan Yadav welcomed the participating teams and other distinguished guests in his welcome address. The teams participating in this annual meet are Sainik School Kapurthala (Punjab), Sainik School Kanjpura (Haryana), Sainik School Ghorakhal (Uttrakhand), Sainik School Sujanpur Tira (Himachal Pradesh) These teams shall also be participating in other activities of quiz competition and debate as also cultural events.
