Kashmir tumult is a localized agitation: RSS
8/12/2010 10:09:11 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 12: The State unit of Rashtriya Swayamsevek Sangh (RSS) has said time has come to scrap special and temporary provision of Article 370.
Talking to media persons here today, State convenor Brig (Retd) Suchet Singh said, that separate constitution and separate flag of Jammu and Kashmir which have served the purpose of strengthening the voice of separatism should also be scraped. “We will not allow separatists elements to decide the fate of Kashmir”, he added.
Singh further said, ‘The present ongoing agitation in Valley is localized in an area of about 15000 sq km, wherein less than 50% of population of the State lives out of which only separatists and miscreants are taking part in this movement while more than 50% of the population lives in an area of about 86000 sq km and they are against this movement”.
Maintaining that stone pelters are not innocent, he alleged, that it is more of a strategic shift from terrorism to agitational terrorism.
“They attacked and set on fire the police and CRPF posts, security forces vehicles, Bunkers etc which seems that agitators are not only being motivated but the separatists are using them”, he mentioned.
He further questioned, “How can Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) be diluted or withdrawn when the cross border infiltration, ceasefire violations and attack on security personnel is going on unabated on”.
The RSS leader said that Sangh has firm view that the violence must end and the state and centre governments instead of succumbing to the pressure of separatists should take quick and stern action against the separatists and anti-national elements so that the people of the Valley can express their views freely.
“Govt should declare Kashmir valley as disturbed area and army should be called on to help the administration”, he demanded.
Commenting on the autonomy, he warned the Central government that they would not accept the proposal like autonomy. ‘In case Government hastens to proceed forward in term of autonomy, they would have to face the wrath of Jammu, Ladakh and nationalists of Kashmir Valley.
He demanded that proper security should be given to minority community in the valley be provided and the property and religious places be protected.
