| Plantation drive at Handa College | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 12: World Women’s Awakening Organisation (WWAO) under its `Go Green Jammu 2010’ campaign today launched plantation drive from Handa College of Education, here.
Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Ashok Gupta planed the first sapling in the premises of the school to make it a beginning for the month long plantation drive at different educational institutions around Jammu city. He was assisted by head external affairs and spokesperson for WWAO, Veena Handa.
In the first phase of the drive, over 100 saplings were planted by students and staff o the college.
Earlier, the chief guest, Ashok Gupta appreciated the organization and stressed the need for planning more and more trees to make earth green and clean.
While speaking on the occasion Veena Handa reiterated that w.w.a.o. had taken it upon themselves as women to not only build homes but also to rebuild and protect mother earth from deforestation and to rejuvenate it by launching this month long tree plantation drive as the “go green drive 2010” as a small part of the working of this organisation.
She also reiterated monitoring committees would be formed for monthly inspection and monitoring the growth of the plants.
