Infiltration bid foiled, Pak ultra killed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Aug 12: Foiling an infiltration bid from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Keri sub-sector near here, army today shot dead a Pakistani militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) at Vir Badreshwar in a gunbattle while accomplice managed to escape. Police sources said two Pakistani militants sneaked into the Indian territory from Vir Badreshwar area in Keri sub-sector about two days back. Soon after troops came to know about it, they fanned out in the thickly forested Vir Badreshwar area and laid ambushes to hunt them down. Sources said while the troops were combing the bushes close to the LoC at about 6 pm today, they came under heavy fire from the two militants who were hiding there. Fire was returned. In the ensuing exchange of fire, the troops shot dead one militant while the other managed to flee the spot.The slain militant was suspected to be a Pakistani. His identity was yet to be established. One AK rifle along with one magazine and 70 rounds was recovered from him. A massive search operation was on in the area to hunt down the escaped militant when reports last came in, the sources added. |
