Vegetable vendor raises "pro-Azadi" slogans at Mandi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 12: A day after police booked 10 students of Batra Medical College ASCOMS), two of law department of Jammu University and one, who was pursuing studies from IGNOU, under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, a vegetable vendor today raised "pro-Azadi" slogans at Mandi in Poonch. The students too had raised "pro-Azadi" and anti-India slogans. They were arrested and booked under sections 120-B and 124-A of RPC. A senior police officer said vegetable vendor Mohammad Iqbal (26), son of Pir Nazir, of Jalian, Mandi, had a fight with special police officer (SPO) Javed Ahmad in a passenger bus at Mandi yesterday. Angered by the SPO's alleged action against him in the bus, Iqbal, accompanied by some other people, blocked the road at Mandi today, the officer added. He said Iqbal also raised objectionable slogans. Though the concerned police preferred to keep mum on the whole episode, the officer said, to defuse the situation, the SPO was attached, but no action was taken against the vegetable vendor. |
