Capt Sunil’s sacrifice remembered | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Aug 15: The sacrifice of martyr Capt Sunil Choudhary was recalled by the people of Kathua by paying floral tributes to the valiant soldier. People from all walks of life assembled at Capt Sunil Chowk to offer their tributes to martyr Sunil, who laid down his life on January 27, 2008 while fighting with ULFA militants in a gun battle in Assam. The martyr Capt Sunil Choudhary got the commission in Indian army as Lieutenant in 7/11 Gorkha Rifle in December 2004. He received prestigious gallantry award “Sena Medal” on January 26, 2008, just a day before he fell to the bullets of militants. Commanding officer Col Kulveer Singh, brother Flt Lieutenant Ankur Choudhary and mother Satya were among others who paid tribute. The family members of Sunil expressed regretted political and administrative apathy over the sacrifice of a great army officer who laid his live for the cause of nation. “No political leader and any one from the administration side was present on the occasion,” said one of the family members. They appealed to the general public to keep the surroundings around the statue clean and give full respect to the martyr’s memorial.
