| ‘Weapons an inseparable part of our life: say inhabitants | | Threat perception looming large in Hill Kaka area | | POONCH OCT-24- Threat perception is again looming large in several remote villages near Hill Kaka which has been the bastion of the militants in the recent past. The inhabitants of villages like Klali and Marha which is adjacent to the Hill Kaka are apprehensive that the ultras may strike any time to take revenge from the defeat they suffered following launching of operation Sarpansh in March-April 2003 in which the residents of the village fought the terrorists along with the Army. The area, which has been cleared from the militants and kept out of their bonds, has again emerged as a hot bed for the militants who are looking for an opportunity to strike again to take revenge. During Sarpansh, M R Fazal Hussain, said the residents of the areas adjacent to Hill Kaka had openly come out along with the Army to fight out the militants who had created a reign of terror in the area. As a result of this operation the area was fully kept of the bonds of militants, he said adding that the militants are looking again for a chance to attack the villages .He said that in 2004 the militants had attacked the house of a Sarpanch in which the Sarpanch and his son sustained injuries. He said the daughter-in-law and daughter of the Sarpanch showed courage and took their guns and stopped the militant’s entry inside the house and fired upon them as a result of which the militants had to fled away before causing any much damage. To counter the militants’ possible attack, the villagers have been carrying their weapons with them, as they don’t know when and where the militants would strike. It is not the men alone but women folk, who have been adequately imparted training in handling of the weapons, too are also moving with their weapons. The reports said that people of these areas have made the weapons as part of their life. While talking to Early Times, M R Tahir and his wife said ‘the Army has given them a good friend in the shape of weapons as with the help of these weapons they have been able to save themselves from the onslaught of militants adding that the weapon has become an inseparable part of their life now’.
