| Sainik School Nagrota lifts basketball title | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, August 15: Hosts Sainik School Nagrota today lifted the basketball title winning all their four league matches in the ongoing North Zone Inter-Sainik School Sports Festival at Nagrota, near here.
With today’s win Nagrota has qualified for the Inter-Zonal national meet going to be held at Chitorgarh in Rajasthan.
In today’s last league engagement, Sainik School Nagrota cagers trounced Sujanpur Tira with a convincing margin of 44 points this evening with final score on board reading 77-33. Earlier, in third league tie played in the morning session, Nagrota defeated last year champion, Ghorakhal 78-57 to strengthen their position.
However, in hockey, Nagrota and Sainik School Kapurthala lead with two wins each. Both the sides have not lost even a single match till today. The winner will be decided when both face each other for league engagement tomorrow.
Similarly in football, Sainik School Kunjpura and Sainik School Kapurthala emerged as main contenders for the title with three wins each. The fourth league match scheduled for tomorrow will decide the winner.
In sub-junior football, Sainik School Ghorakhal, Sainik School Nagrota and Sainik School Sujanpur are sailing in the same boat with two wins each.
BASKETBALL: Sainik School Nagrota defeated Sainik School Ghorakhal 78-57. However, in the next match, played in the evening session, Sainik School, Ghorakhal registered a 51-31 win over Sainik School Kapurthala.
HOCKEY: Sainik School Kapurthala registered a 2-1 win over Sainik School Sujanpur Tira. In the second league tie, Sainik School Kunjpura held Sainik School Sujanpur Tira to a goalless draw.
VOLLEYBALL: Sainik School Kunjpura beat Sainik School Nagrota 3-1. Second match of the day was won by Sainik School Ghorakhal beating the hosts Sainik School Nagrota again 3-1 sets.
FOOTBALL: In the morning session, Sainik School Kunjpura defeated Sainik School Sujanpur Tira by two goals to one. Sainik School Kunjpura beat Sainik School Nagrota by a solitary goal.
SUB-JUNIOR FOOTBALL: In sub-junior football, Sainik School Ghorakhal registered a 2-0 win over Sainik School Kapurthala while, in the evening session, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira defeated Sainik School Kapurthala 4-1.
