| MR Club wins volleyball tourney | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, August 15: MR Club Raya Morh lifted the winners’ trophy in volleyball tournament organised on Independence Day by Sahyog Committee Bari Brahmana at Sports Stadium today.
In the final, MR Club defeated Allah Club in straight sets 25-17, 25-20 to clinch the title. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Allah Club beat Pallahwala Club 2-0 while MR Club trounced Pindi-A Club again 2-0. In all, 14 teams, representing various local clubs took part in this day-long event held on knock-out basis.
In the final and prize distribution function, SSP Samba, Jai Lal Sharma was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies.
Guest of honour on the occasion, president, Volleyball Association of J&K, Raj Daluja presented a cash prize of Rs 5000 from own pocked to the winner team of MR Club for their fighting spirit. He also gave away Rs 2,000 cash prize to best player of the tournament, Ashwani Kumar (Raghu).
Prominent among others present were BJP leader, Chander Parkash Ganga, Kuldeep Magotra and Rakesh Sambyal.
Earlier, SDPO Bari Brahmana, Naresh Singh declared the meet open by unfurling the national flag at the stadium.
