Leh cloudbursts: Danish national’s body found | | | LEH: The body of a Danish national, who died in the August 5 cloudbursts at Leh, was today dug out from underneath the debris and handed over the representatives of the Royal Danish Embassy at a Leh camp. Henrietee Borg Kristensen, a resident of Grind Stet in Denmark, died at Skiu Markha Tracking Route at Leh on August 5. His body was exhumed and brought to Leh today. “After proper identification by the representatives of Royal Danish Embassy and completion of all legal formalities, the body was handed over to authorised person at a Leh camp under proper receipt. The body is being airlifted to New Delhi,” police sources said. The cloudburst death toll has risen to 176. Out of them, 156 have been identified while 20 are still unidentified. A cloudburst is an extreme form of rainfall, sometimes mixed with hail and thunder, which normally lasts no longer than a few minutes but is capable of creating flood conditions. |
