JMC Comm inspects works under BSUP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 16: The newly appointed Jammu Municipal Commissioner S C Sawhney today inspected the development works undertaken under Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP) at Bhagwati Nagar and Sunjwan areas. JMC Commissioner accompanied by the senior officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation reviewed the ongoing work done regarding construction of houses for urban poor. Sawhney said, "Under BSUP, houses have been constructed for the poor in Bhagwati Nagar and Sunjwan areas of Jammu city". JMC Commissioner said that the main thrust of the BSUP will be on integrated development of slums through projects for providing shelter, basic services and other related civic amenities with a view to providing utilities to the urban poor. He informed that under this BSUP, 38 houses have been constructing in Bhagwati while 608 in Sunjama for urban poors. JMC Commissioner asked the concerning officials to complete it within stipulated time frame so that the needy could benefited from this BSUP. He also paid visit at Jain Bazaar where a house was collapsed due to heavy rain on Aug 14. It is pertinent to mention that the house was declared as unsafe and was vacated two days before it collapsed. Sawhney gave on spot instruction to lift the dump resulted due to collapsing of the building so that blocked street clear for local residents. He also asked the concerned authorities to depute a team of JMC workers and Safaikarmcharies for making the area clean. Sawhney informed that JMC will dismantle some others building which were declared unsafe. |
