Conduct KCS (Judicial) interviews at Jammu: Chaman
8/17/2010 9:36:42 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 17: The leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has urged upon the Governor to direct the concerned high ups in the State Public Service Commission to conduct the interviews of the candidates for KCS (Judicial) in Jammu itself instead at Srinagar because of the prevailing worrisome situation in Kashmir.
Responding to the worries of many candidates of KCS (Judicial) from Jammu, Prof Gupta said that it sounds strange that when the summer capital is engulfed by the agitational terrorism and most parts of the valley are in the grip of a grave situation created due to the failure of the law and order, the certain high ups in the Public Service Commission have fixed August 23, for interviews.
How wise would be to go for such an exercise in a surcharged atmosphere in the valley, but more than it was surprising that large number of candidates including girls have been asked to reach Srinagar for this purpose, he wondered and questioned that will it not be proper that some members of the Public Service Commission themselves should come to Jammu for the purpose especially when this would not be something new as in the past too, such a practice was taken up.
BJP leader urged upon the State Governor and all other concerned to look into the matter and have the remedial measures to sort out the problems of the large number of candidates from Jammu areas.
In another statement, Prof Gupta impressed upon the Governor to pay his due attention to the alarming developments in the valley of Kashmir, especially the virtual collapse of the law and order machinery.
In this regard, Prof Gupta particularly referred to the blaring of anti-India slogans and farmans (orders) of the Hurriyat Conference and some other leaders with Talibani out look from places of worship.
He assailed the leaders of the Congress, National Conference and some others for not extending the Law adopted by the Parliament in 1988 to prevent this kind of abuse of the religious places.
BJP leader warned that if the men in authority, both in the state as also at the Centre, do not take note of the developments even at now, the consequence would be far more dangerous as the situation is taking shape of things.
