Cleanliness drive organized by NSS Units of GGM Science College | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 20: NSS units of G.G.M. Science College organized two days workshop on “Cleanliness Drive ” in the college campus on 19th & 20th August 2010. The main aim of organizing such workshop was to eradicate the weeds and grasses growing in the campus especially in monsoon season. On first day of this programme M.S. Baloria, principal of the College in his inaugural speech spoke at length about the importance of cleanliness. He also appreciated the role of NSS in organizing such programmes. The volunteers cleaned the grasses and weeds surrounding the lawn and main tracks. On second day of the workshop, the NSS volunteers cleaned the grasses and weeds growing around Botany and Zoology departments of the college. In the second session of concluding day, the NSS Volunteers gathered in the old hall of the college and discussed about the importance of cleanliness. A cultural programme was also organized by NSS volunteers. About 80 NSS volunteers from morning session and 45 NSS volunteers from evening shift of the college participated in this programme. Senior NSS volunteers Sumit Kumar Dogra and Mohd. Arif led the teams which include Anjum, Rifat, Preeti, Ankush, Karan, Navjot Bakshi, Prikshit, Abhinator and others. The drive was launched under the guidance of Rajinder Sharma and Vijay Kumar Chandan, programme officers of NSS.
