8/20/2010 9:23:15 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 20 : The Union government has been providing record funds for the developmental activities but on ground the situation is totally different stated leader of BJP Legislators Party Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta during the a programme hled at Akhnoor as Continuation of its District Level Workers Conferences over the present situation in Kashmir.
Be it Congress, NC or PDP, their leaders have always concentrated on their personal gains and misused the public money. He said the Union government should seek the details of the expenditure of the previous financial year before making hike in the next plan for the state.
Voicing his concern over the alarming developments in the valley particularly with regard to threats of conversion to the minorities, including sikhs, Prof. Gupta said that government should take immediate note and take action against such anti-national elements before it is too late. He also assailed the coalition government leaders of the NC and Congress, alleging that under a conspiracy the security forces are being maligned but the blunting of the instruments with which the terrorism, including the religious fanatics, would be of grave consequences.
The BJP leader indicated the coalition of being total failure on various fronts and maintained that the ruling leaders have not only failed to perform but they are indulging in misuse of public funds and, in short, this government has come to be a curse for the people and a great danger to the interests of the unity and integrity of the country.
In BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas while addressing the conference said that the situation in Kashmir has got complicated due to the wrong and appeasement-based policies of the Congress led successive governments at the Centre. He said the Nehru-Sheikh Dosti and 1975 Indira-Sheikh Accord has resulted in encouraging such elements which demand pre-1953 position, Autonomy, Self-Rule, Azadi, Joint Management, Porus Borders etc. He said those raising questions on the accession of this state with India are also the products of the Congress policies. Maharaja Hari Singh, like other princely states, signed the same Instrument of Accession and Jammu and Kashmir is as important part of India as other states. No one has any right to raise fingers over the accession, Manhas said.
The BJP Chief said that it is the duty of every nation loving citizen in J&K to oppose tooth and nail all such demands and decisions which weaken the Indian sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir or encourages the separatists and anti-national elements. Our next generations will not spare us if we give them an environment where the minorities are not safe, the state has helpless chief minister, militants freely target any one, neighbouring countries interfere in our internal affairs and life and property of the common citizens is not safe. Being a nationalist political party, it becomes all the more important for us to reach the masses and expose the Congress for its such policies which are not in the nation’s interests. He asked the party activists to convince the public that the special status under Article-370 has only widened the gap between this and other parts of the country and delimitation is the only solution for ending discrimination with Jammu.
State General Secretaries Sat Sharma (C.A) and Usha Choudhary, MLAs Ch. Sukhnandan, Jugal Kishore and Bharat Bhushan and other leaders including Chaman Lal Kanathia, Karan Singh, Kuldeep Sharma, Daljit Singh, Suraj Singh, Magar Singh also addressed the conference.
