KPC demands relief to flood victims
8/20/2010 9:24:12 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, AUG 20: Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC) has demanded immediate relief for the flood victims of Purkhoo and Mishriwala migrant camps.
A team of KPC, comprising of State President - Satish Pajnoo, General Secretary- P.N. Pandit, B.L. Thaploo, J.L. Pandita and others visited the migrant camps to take stock of the situation created by the heavy rains during the intervening night of Aug 18 and 19.
They said that hundreds of migrant families suffered huge losses at Mishriwala and Purkhoo migrant camps due to flood triggered by heavy rains.
They said that all the tall claims of Government about the provision of facilities to camp inmates fall flat, which can well be assessed by the fact that more than hundred one room tenements at Mishriwala and about 30 tenements at Purkhoo migrant camps submerged in water after a single heavy spell of rain.
