JJSF extends support to dental college students | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 20: Jammu Joint Students Federation (JJSF) on Friday extended its support to ongoing agitation of students of Government Indira Gandhi Dental College, Jammu protesting against de-recognition of the college by Dental Council of India (DCI). “We extend full support to the students of Government Dental College in their struggle to get recognition to their degrees. If the government does not take immediate steps to resolve the issue, students of all government degree colleges would come on roads and the onus of it would lies on the government,” vice president JJSF, Pratap Singh told reporters here. He said the strike of students have entered 11th day but the government has turned a “blind eye” over the issue. The DCI has recently withdrawn the recognition of the dental college after the state government failed to provide necessary infrastructure and staff. The College was established in year 2004 and it was inaugurated by the then Minister for Health, Choudharhy Lal Singh having capacity of 20 students. “De-recognition of the college would jeopardize the future of hundreds of students pursuing medical education in the college,” he said, adding “The DCI has taken such an extreme step due to state government’s incompetence to provide infrastructure and staff in the college.” |
