Rs. 50 cr being spent on 11 towns under IHSDP: DYCM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 20: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand stressed upon the need for bringing in more accountability and transparency in timely utilization of funds available under various centrally sponsored schemes for better infrastructural development of the State. The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing at a high level meeting held here today evening to review the ongoing projects under various central sponsored schemes. Tara Chand took a detailed review of performance and achievement of the Housing and Urban Development Department under UIDSSMT/ Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programmes (IHSDP)/ILCS scheme, physical and financial progress under the state sector plan scheme 2009-10 and 2010-11 i.e IDMT and untied grants. The meeting was informed that under UIDSSMT Rs.27579.08 lakh have been sanctioned for Akhnoor, Sunderbani, Doda, Badherwah, Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch and Samba Municipal Committees, of which Rs 11421.38 lakh stands utilized. Besides, under HSDP, 11 towns are being covered with an expenditure of Rs 4999.97 lakh, of which, Rs 1345.78 lakh have been utilized so far .This scheme will benefit 2137 beneficiaries. Similarly, under Integrated Low Cost Sanitation Scheme (ILCSS), 14 towns have been taken up out which 13 fall in urban local bodies and in Batote Municipal Committee, Rs.9.55 lakh have been released out of Rs. 26.60 lakh for construction 185 units of which 130 have been completed. In rest of 13 towns, 415 sanitation units are proposed to be constructed involving total cost of Rs. 51.85 lakh and Rs. 11.69 lakh has been utilized so far. It was further apprised that Solid Waste Management Projects in Jammu, Samba, Poonch and Kathua municipalities have been completed. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed upon effective implementation of IHSDP and directed for release of first installment within a week’s time to the beneficiaries. A verification committee comprising of officers from Revenue department, R&B department and EO from H&UDD have been constituted to expedite the cases under the scheme. He directed for early submission of utilization certificates for timely release of funds for better implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. He exhorted on timely settlement of land acquisition cases and proper identification of the beneficiaries so that the people can avail maximum benefits from these schemes. Tara Chand stressed on more transparency and accountability in utilization of funds and resources and said that codal formalities should be completed on time.
