| Student alleges harassment by revenue staff, attempts suicide | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 20: Alleging harassment by the revenue staff of Majalta over the issuance of a state subject certificate in his favour, an 11th class student tried to end his life by consuming poison at his residence at Kail Pardhi in Majaltha area of Udhampur Wednesday last.
Identified as Raman Sharma (18), son of Gyan Chand Sharma, he was admitted to the GMC hospital here. He told The Early Times that on August 18, when he went to the office of Majaltha tehsildar for the issuance of state subject certificate to him, he was humiliated and harassed by the clerical staff.
They even threatened him of dire consequences in case he again came to the office, he alleged.
He said he was so mentally depressed that he was forced to take this extreme step. The concerned police were, however, yet to register a case in this connection. |
