Speaker pays floral tributes to Martyr Capt.Gandharab Singh Manhas
Announces funds for GAV School

JAMMU, OCTOBER 25 -Remembering the great son of soil Amar Shaheed Captian Gandharab Singh Manhas at Pargeral Island, Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand today paid floral tributes to the martyr on the occasion of his 60th death anniversary at a Shaheedi Diwas function held at Pargwal in Akhnoor tehsil.
Highlighting the great sacrifice of the hero for safeguarding the Nation, Mr. Tara Chand threw light on his contributions which would always be remembered with pride. He asked the people to follow the footsteps of Amar Shaheed captain Gandharab Singh Manhas if they really wish to serve the country.
He said that the life and teachings of Shaheed captain have left deep and lasting impact on various facts of people.
Speaker said the level of violence in Jammu and Kashmir since 18 years has reduced and the situation is improving fast in the state.
Referring to the wars against India and on going proxy war, Mr. Tara Chand said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have always rejected the alien cult of violence as it goes against their great tradition which stands for brotherhood, peace and amity. He said that Martyr Capitan Manhas was a selfless leader who throughout his life worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the trodden and poor sections of the society.
He said that the coalition government is making concerted efforts to connect all the border belts with cities and towns besides provide Medicare facilities, upgradation of educational infrastructure, drinking water facilities etc to the people of three regions of the state. He announced Rs. 3 lakh for the construction of additional rooms at Gandharab Army Vidyalaya (GAV), Pargwal. He asked the engineers to immediately start the construction work of rooms so that the students of the school do not face any convenience and complete these before new season.
On the occasion, Col. Mr. Parveen Kumar also paid rich tributes to Martyr Capitan Gandharab Singh Manhas.
The students of Gandharab Army Vidyalaya, Pargwal presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion and pay floral tributes to Martyr Capital Gandharab Singh Manhas. The programme was highly applauded by army, teacher fraternity, and prominent citizens.
On the occasion, the Speaker distributed consolation prizes among the participants.
