| Governor celebrates Eid with Jawans | | | SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 25 - It was Eid with difference at Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regimental Centre in the Periphery of Srinagar this morning. More than thousands of army personnel from various units and air force offered Eid prayers at the centre, as thousands of their comrades were watching their Muslim brethren performing the prayers. Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) S. K. Sinha was among the first to greet Muslim soldiers on the festival of Eid. Addressing large gathering, the Governor hoped that Eid-ul-Fitr will hurled a new era of peace and tranquility in Kashmir that has been the land of saints and seers. He said that Kashmir has a unique tradition of amity and harmony that is popularly known as Kashmiriyat which has with stood the test of times. He said that Jammu and Kashmir proud of its secular ethos and unique in many ways in whole of the country. Gen. Sinha traced back his association with this beautiful valley to 1947 when he was highly impressed to see the unity of different communities. He said that festival like Eid were being jointly celebrated with gaiety and religious fervour by all the communities. He hoped that the festival will be celebrated in true spirit of Kashmiriyat. Later, the Governor interacted with officers and jawans besides their families and wished them Eid greetings.
