| ‘Opening of routes with PoK has given rise to militancy’: Sat Paul | | BSP denounces Autonomy, Self-Rule demand | | JAMMU OCT-25-Denouncing the demand of Autonomy and Self Rule being advocated by some political outfits in Jammu and Kashmir, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has said that such demands are raised to divert the attention of the people from the real issues like militancy, migration of people of minority communities from the militancy infested areas, granting of citizenship rights to West Pakistani refugees and implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations. Addressing media persons at Vijaypur near here today, Dr Sat Paul Member National Executive BSP and Coordinator J&K State said that BSP was astonished at the NC’s demand of Autonomy and Self Rule by PDP and maintained that the Jammu and Kashmir State already enjoyed autonomy and self- rule under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. He described these demands just to divert the attention of the people from the real problems confronting them. ‘Saying that the plans of the present rulers of Jammu and Kashmir are to communalize the situation in the state because of their bent of mind’, the BSP leader said that the ‘demand of NC and PDP to demilitarize Jammu and Kashmir is aimed at to handover the State to Pakistan on a platter without any effort’. He said Pakistan had in the past tried at four times since 1947 to annex Jammu and Kashmir but suffered defeat at the hands of the Indian forces adding that the freedom with full facilities and liberal central assistance is not being digested by the rulers of Jammu and Kashmir who are fully bent upon destabilizing and finishing the State. Warning the Centre of its follies, the BSP leader said that opening of roads to PoK from Uri and Rawalkot instead of softening relations between the two countries have proved adverse and given rise to militancy not only in Jammu and Kashmir but throughout the country. Referring to the Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru, Dr. Sap Paul described the statement of former Chief Minister and National Conference Patron Dr Farooq Abdullah as most irresponsible and condemnable. Dr. Abdullah is reported to have said in his statement recently that country will be in flames and the lives of the judges would be at risk if Guru was hanged to death. ‘If India has to succumb to the pressure of these rulers, who are playing in the hands of militants, then there is no need of prisons and courts’, the BSP leader said and questioned ‘if Guru is pardoned then what is the need of other accused with less crimes to be kept in Jails’. He reiterated his party’s demand for imposition of President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the critical situation prevailing in the state. The BSP leader also extended his party’s support to the November 6 Bandh call given by the United Refugees Front in support of their demands of granting citizenship rights to the West Pakistani refugees and dealing all other refugees equally in Jammu and Kashmir at par with Kashmiri migrants. Those who were present at the press conference included Som Nath General Secretary, Puran Chand District President Jammu, Surinder Sharma Assembly President Vijaypur, Neelam Kumari Councilor Vijaypur and Milap Singh.
