| Inter-school boys’ U-19 competitions conclude | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, August 26: Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), the two-day boys inter-school competitions in under-19 age group concluded today at Sports Stadium, Hiranagar, near here.
About 450 participants drawn from different institutions of the district participated in the events of kho-kho, volleyball and kabaddi.
On the concluding day today, Member Legislative Council (MLC), Subash Chander was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Among others present were Haqeeqat Singh, Tarsem Lal and Advocate Rakesh Sharma.
The matches were officiated by penal of experts comprising Sanjay Kumar, Sanjeev Singh, Dharminder Singh, Joginder Singh, Avinash Sharma, Kailash Kumar, Vijay Sharma, Sukh Dev, Kuldeep Singh, Mohinder Paul and Sartaj Singh.
KHO- KHO: Government Higher Secondary School Kootah clinched the Kho-Kho title beating Government Higher Secodnary School, Kathua by one innings and two points in a one-sided contest. Earlier, in the semifinals, GHSS Kathua beat Higher Secondary School Billawar by seven points while GHSS Kootah outplayed Government Higher Secondary School Magloor by a narrow margin of two points.
VOLLEYBALL: Government Higher Secondary School Hiranagar claimed the winners’ trophy outplaying Higher Secondary School Malhar 2-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-18). In the semifinals, GHSS Hiranagar beat GHSS Kootah by 2-1 and GHSS Malhar downed GHSS Billawar 2-1 sets.
KABADDI: Government Higher Secondary School Kathua lifted the Kabaddi title outplaying GHSS Kootah by 15 points with 30-15 being final score. Earlier, in the semi-finals, GHSS Kootah beat Government HSS Jakhwar by two points in a close contest while GHSS Kathua defeated GHSS by 18 points.
