MAM College kick starts plantation drive and organises essay competition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Aug 27: NSS unit of Government MAM College today organised an essay competition on the topic “Role of Youth and Millennium Development Goals, challenges and opportunities” under the supervision of prof Hans Raj, NSS programme officer. In which ten students took part wherein Anshal gupta of BA part I, Ishtiaq Ahmad of BA part I and Vikram Singh of BA part II were adjourned as Ist, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Prof Anita Sharma and prof Shailini Sharma from English department were the judges on the occasion. The names of first three positions have been sent to the NSS co-ordinator University of Jammu for further participation at National Level competitions. College Principal, Ajit Angral, Dr IK Khan and prof GM Choudhary were also present on the spot. Dr Ajit Angral lauded the role of NSS for organising such competitions and also encouraged the students for their participation. Meanwhile on the occasion college principal also kick started three days plantation drive in the college campus by planting sapling of medicinal plant. Around 300 saplings of different species were planted by teachers, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers. These saplings were procured from Forest department, social forestry and Horticulture department. The plantation drive was launched under the supervision of Prof Hans Raj, NSS programme officer and Prof Karan Singh Bhau, Associate NCC officer.
