| KP Sabha Felicitates Pran Ji Koul | | | Early Times Reporter

Kashmiri Pandit Sabha today felicitated Pran Ji Koul Director Children Education of Kashmir Overseas Association (KOA) U.S.A. for his valuable contribution towards the betterment of Kashimiri Pandit community at Kashmiri Pandit Sabha Amphalla here today. T.N. Khosa president Kashmiri Pandit Sabha presented a shawl and momento (Samawar) to Pran Ji Koul. Besides president, others who were present on the occasion were Rattan Lal Shant, Moti Lal Kimmu, M.N. Tikko, Phula Koul, A.N. Vaishnavi, Ashok Kher B.N. Bhan (Nisar) along with other dignitaries. Pran Ji koul in his address stressed upon the need to help the needy and poor migrants living in miserable conditions by imparting them the much needed education and other basic facilities like health facilities, sanitation facilities etc. he further said that as far as KOA is concerned, it came into the picture in the year 1998 but actually started its acvities in the year 1994-95 for giving monetary and other benefits to the children of the migrants living in migrants camps and other adjoining areas. We are directly giving them the monetary benefits through cheques addressed to the concerned children but KP Sabha is the medium through which we are sending these cheques. KP Sabha is helping us in identifying the children who deserves the benefits. So far, the strength of the children getting monetary benefits has been gone up to 270 in 2006 as compared to 40 in 1998. They are receiving Rs.10000 annualy. Three poor KP girls marriage was also arranged by KP Sabha and some money was also given to one migrant for his kidney transplantation. He further said that KOA will provide money for upliftment of sports among the migrant children for their overall development. Earlier, the function began with the traditional lighting of lamp followed by Kailash Mehra’s performance who enthralled the audience with her magical voice. Two bouquets were also presented to Pran Ji Koul on behalf of KP Sabha on the occasion.
