Governor lauds smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Aug 31: Governor N N Vohra has complimented and thanked the State Administration, Army, Central Police Forces, J&K Police, local stakeholders, people at large and all those who were associated with the management of this year’s Amarnath Yatra. He congratulated all of them for contributing towards the smooth and peaceful conduct of this important annual pilgrimage. Governor was addressing the day long Post-Yatra Review Meeting at the Raj Bhavan last evening. He had a special word of praise for excellent synergy and coordination among the Civil Administration, Shrine Board, Army, Security Forces, State Police and all the Government Departments and agencies involved with this important annual event. He said that it was the result of such a collective and well-coordinated effort that made the real difference in ensuring the satisfactory conduct of the Yatra-2010. Referring to the post-Yatra review meeting, the Governor observed that making full use of the feedback and the valuable suggestions made by the officers who were manning various responsible positions during this year’s Yatra, the Shrine Board shall endeavour to plan and manage Yatra-2011 in a still better way. He emphasized the need for bringing about continuous improvements in the logistical infrastructure with a view to providing the best possible facilities to the Yatris. Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Shrine Board, laid emphasis on ensuring cleanliness in the Base Camps, Camps enroute and the entire Yatra area to preserve the environment and enumerated the measures taken by the Shrine Board in this regard for Yatra 2010. Chief Executive Officer of the Board, R K Goyal, while thanking one and all for high level of coordination, said that it was due to this synergy that despite varied challenges the Yatra was managed in a very smooth manner. Earlier, detailed discussions were held and a number of suggestions put forth by the participants of the meeting in regard to all aspects of the Yatra in the meeting chaired by the CEO of the Shrine Board, R K Goyal, with a view to identify specific areas of improvements and include these while planning the approaches for Yatra-2011. Goyal said that this year’s Yatra witnessed a host of new and path-breaking initiatives taken by the Shrine Board to increasingly facilitate the visiting pilgrims.
