J&K govt unable to appoint secretary sports council | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 31: Jammu and Kashmir government has miserably failed to appoint an independent Secretary of the State Sports Council. Director General, Youth Service and Sports S A Leherwal has been looking after the additional responsibilities of Sports Council, replacing the incumbent P S Gill, now serving as DGP, Punjab Police. Sports activities have declined to a great extent despite tall promises made by authorities. Both Maulana Azad Stadium (MA) and mini stadium Parade are is in dilapidated condition. Similar is the condition of the other grounds associated with the State Sports Council. As the rainy season is going on, sports activities are virtually at grinding halt. Recent controversy in the transfers in the sports coaches in the state has also attributed to the absence of Secretary, State Sports Council. Minister for Youth and Sports, R S Chib was not available for comments.
