CS to announce package for rain affected people | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Aug 31: Chief Secretary SS Kapur is likely to announce special package for the rain affected people of twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch where 17 residents died and 1700 houses have damaged during the recent heavy downpour. A relief package of at least Rs 3 crore is likely to be announced for the rain affected people during Chief Secretary’s visit here tomorrow. Sources said that Chief Secretary SS Kapur will directly fly to Poonch where he will took review meeting with the officers following which he will also visit Rajouri and call officers meeting. The aim of the visit of Chief Secretary is to take review of the situation arisen following heavy rainfall and access the damage in the twin border districts. Sources said that Chief Secretary is likely to announce Rs 3 crore special packages for the affected people. As per sources atleast 17 locals have died and 1700 houses were damaged in the rainfall. Prior to Chief Secretary’s visit, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal today held meeting with officers representing different departments in Rajouri and Poonch. In the meeting, Divisional Commissioner threw light on the agenda of the proposed visit of the Chief Secretary. He directed the officers to prepare all documents pertaining to relief to the affected families in the recent heavy rainfall. Dr Pawan Kotwal when contacted told Early Times that atleast 17 people have lost lives in the recent rainfall and atleast 1700 houses have been damaged in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. He said that Chief Secretary is coming here to review the situation after flash floods. He said that budget of relief is also likely to be finalized during his visit to the area.
