Excise deptt realizes Rs 225 cr revenue till July | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 31: The Excise department has realized Rs 225.01 crore revenue till ending July, 2010 against the target of Rs 657.10 crore fixed for this year. The information was given at an introductory meeting of the officers of the Excise and Taxation Department of Jammu province convened by the Excise Commissioner G A Peer. During the meeting threadbare discussions were also held about the revenue realization. Peer stressed upon the officers of the excise department to put in maximum efforts to increase the revenue realization and exceed the targets with strict implementation of excise laws and procedures, besides ensuring effective monitoring and implementation of regulatory mechanism. He exhorted upon the officers to keep austere vigil so that there should be no evasion of toll and excise revenue. He also underlined the need to update the outdated laws for expeditious realization and disposal of tax related matters. Peer was informed that against the target of Rs 657.10 crore fixed for this year, the department has realized Rs 225.01 crore revenue till ending July, 2010. Expressing satisfaction over the achievements by the department, Peer urged upon the officers to get fully involved in their jobs to attain optimum results. He asked the officers to work with zeal and dedication to achieve more than the revised targets. He said that good performers would be rewarded and stern action would be taken against those lacking in their duties. Among others, Deputy Excise Commissioners, Dr Manmohan Singh, B.L Saraf and R K Kundal, Principal Excise and Taxation Training School, Nagotra, Angrez Singh Rana and other senior officers of the department attended the meeting.
