| SVO produces challans against ZEPO, cop | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 01: In separate cases, state vigilance organisation (SVO) today produced challans in the court of special judge anti-corruption, Srinagar, against a zonal education planning officer (ZEPO) and a police head constable.
ZEPO, Tulamulla in Ganderbal, was caught red handed on April 15 last while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from Mohammad Ashraf Ahangar, son of Abdul Khaliq Ahangar of Tulamulla, for releasing the outstanding rent bill of his house.
The court fixed October 18 as the next date of hearing.
The challan was also produced against head constable Noorudin Chouhan, who too was caught on April 15 last while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from Abdul Majid Shan, son of Mohammad Maqbool Shan of Kachahama, Kupwara, for releasing
the documents of his vehicle which he had seized.
In this case, the court fixed October 25 as the next date of hearing.Cases in this connection stand registered against the accused under section 5(2) of prevention of corruption Act read with section 161 of RPC.
