EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 1: To raise competitive sides for the forthcoming National School Games in U-19 football, to be hosted by J&K in Jammu from September 20, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) today started the coaching camps in both boys and girls sections at MA Stadium, here. The selected probable in both the categories attended their first session of coaching of the 20-day training sessions under the guidance of experts from the State Sports Council. The camp shall conclude after the final selection of the teams by the DYSS prior to the Games. While the boys’ camp is being taken by Sports Council coach, Sat Pal Singh and assistant coach, Mehraj-u-Din, PET DYSS Baramulla, girls are being trained by Iqbal Singh of Sports Council and Shamim Mehraj (DYSS) as chief coach and assistant coach respectively. In all, there are 28 boys and 22 girls at present attending the camp from different districts of the state. It is pertinent to mention here that the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) had allotted the under-19 football tournaments to its affiliate unit, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) for Srinagar in boys section and in Jammu in girls’ category. But due to unrest in valley, the department decided to hold both the events in Jammu.
