| PDP greets people on Janamashtami | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Sep 1: Peoples Democratic Party Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and President Mehbooba Mufti have greeted people ahead of Janmashtami, which is being celebrated on Thursday.
"On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami the two leaders extended their greetings and best wishes to hindu community in the state.
"May this festival inspire all of us to lead lives in which we ceaselessly strive for amity and unity with all our brethren”. they added.
"The festival of Janmashtami celebrates the life and eternal teachings of Lord Krishna - discipline, knowledge, and selfless action. May the festival inspire us towards the amity and unity and herald peace and prosperity for all, they said.
Janmashtami is celebrated on two consecutive days, the day when Krishna was born, and the day when his father Vasudeva brought him to Gokul.
Among others who extended their greeting include Senior leaders Muzaffar Hussain Beig, General Secretary Mohd Dilawar Mir, Deputy Speaker Mohd Sartaj Madni , Abdul Rehman Veeri and Syed Basharat Bukhari.
