| Situation in Kashmir still grim: KPC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT NEW DELHI, Sep 1: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) has termed the political situation in Kashmir as continue to be grim, despite Prime Minister’s appeal to the Kashmiri youths to shun the violence as well as flexible attitude of State and Central Governments. In a core committee meeting of the Conference held today at New Delhi, its national president Kundan Kashmiri said that separatist forces have replaced the traditional politics of democracy with that of violent ‘mobocracy’, thus bringing the life in the entire valley to a grinding halt. He further stated that Kashmiri Pandits, the important stake holders of Kashmir have been relegated to the political irrelevance and eroded their physical and political space in the valley at a very fast pace. The present violence in the valley again created a sense of insecurity in the displaced Kashmiri Pandit Community. Kundan Kashmiri stated that in light of the naked dance of destruction and denial of what belongs to Kashmiri Pandits, it became imperative for KPC to take a serious and fresh stock of Kashmir situation and decided in the Core Committee meet to fully activate its supporters and sympathizers through mass mobilization / mass contact programmes throughout country from September 14 onwards for launching an effective struggle to restore community rights, dignity and honour as well as to impress upon the Government to hold a dialogue with KP Community for grant of “Kashyap Homeland” at the earliest which is the only viable solution of Kashmir as well as Kashmiri Pandits’ problems. This core group meeting of KPC also decided to observe September 14 as “Black Day” and would organize prayer meetings throughout country for martyrs. He appealed whole KP Biradari and other nationalist forces to wear Black Badge and switch off their lights from 7 pm to 8 pm on September 14 of their respective residencies and business establishments. Besides, organize prayer meetings in their respective localities in the evening time to pay rich tributes and homage to the martyrs.
