| LIC celebrates 54th anniversary | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sep 1: LIC celebrated its 54th anniversary today. The Zonal Manager, North Zone, Vinay Kumar Sinha inaugurated the weeklong celebrations at Jeevan Bharti Bldg. N.Delhi by hoisting the Corporate flag and inaugurating an exhibition showcasing LIC’s contribution to nation building activities & service to its customers.
Speaking on the occasion the Zonal Manager elaborated on the exemplary performance of LIC in more than five decade of its journey.
LIC has been growing from strength to strength with customer base of 28 crore policyholders- only four countries in the world has more population than this figure & asset base of over Rs 11.50 lakh crores.
The Zonal Manager informed that in the last financial year LIC earned a surplus of more than Rs 20618 crores out of which Rs 1030 crores was paid to the Government of India as dividend
V K Sinha further said that LIC even after a decade of opening of the insurance sector continues to maintain an overwhelming market share of 74 percent which is a rare achievement compared to other public sector companies in various sectors opened to competition. The Zonal Manager gave a clarion call to all employees to rise to the occasion and not to rest on their laurels.
