| Poonch gets mini secretariat | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Sep 1: Chief Secretary SS Kapur has said that government will open mini-secretariat at Poonch fort for which he announced release of Rs 2 crore to acquire land. During his tour to Rajouri Poonch to review post-flood situations, Kapur said that government is serious to connect all villages and they will soon connect Kirni a village on extreme LoC with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. He said that he has directed the authorities to prepare proposal for the construction of this road. SS Kapur also issued instructions for release of Rs.2 crore for purchase of land required for constructing of mini secretariat building at district headquarter Poonch for which 22 kanals of land has been identified. Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, Khursheed Ahmed Ganai, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal, Secretary General Administration Department, Mohd Sayeed Khan, District Development Commissioner, Poonch, K L Khajuria, SSP Poonch, Mr Manmohan Singh and other senior officers of the district attended the meeting. He asked the officers to prepare Detail Project Reports (DPR) for development of new bus stand, construction of university campus and modern record room in Poonch. He also directed for submission of DPR regarding construction of tehsil office at Mandi, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs.3.38 crore and Rs.80 lakh stand utilized on the project till date. Meanwhile, Kapur released Rs.30 lakh in favour of PDD for providing power network to the displaced persons of Kirni village situated at LoC. The meeting was told that Rs.68.67 crore have been approved for the district during current year, of which, Rs. 402 crore have been spent on execution of various development works thus registering 33 percent expenditure. Earlier, the DDC informed that 6 villages of the district namely Salamabad, Potha, Jaranwali, salwa and Gagrian are being developed as modern villages at a cumulative cost of Rs. 6 crore. He further apprised that 184 new appointments were made and 123 families were provided cash in lieu under SRO-43. At a similar meeting convened at Rajouri, the Chief Secretary stressed on effective implementation of NREGA works in far flung and remote areas. Expressing dismay over irregularities on the part of several doctors and teachers who have not yet joined their original places of posting in remote areas, Mr Kapur asked the concerned authorities to take immediate action in this regard. He also emphasized on proper and adequate distribution of ration in far off areas of the district. Saying that benefits under ASHA should reach to deserving populaces, Chief Secretary directed for conducting awareness programmes to educate people about the scheme. On the occasion, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Mr G A Khawaja apprised that free ration for three months has been provided to drought affected families whose Kharief crop 2009 was damaged. He said special squads have been constituted to check adulteration and profiteering besides conducting public darbar at tehsil and block headquarters. Directions have also been issued to all the district level officers to remain available and accessible to the public. |
